About us
The Palestine Solidarity Group (PSG) is a campaigning group based at the University of Leeds. The aim of the group is to raise awareness about the contemporary and historical situation in Palestine, apply international pressure to end the illegal Israeli occupation, and support the humanitarian cause of the Palestinians and their right to self determination.
We work both on campus and within the local community to put on a wide range of events, speakers, film showings, cultural events, conferences, day trips, stalls and other educational initiatives to increase understanding and support among students for the Palestinian cause.
As a student organisation we particularly seek to raise awareness of the plight of students in Palestine. The apartheid state of Israel and the brutal Occupation have consistently denied the Right to Education for Palestinians – a right that is enshrined in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Israel’s attacks on schools and Universities, the restrictions on movement and the general economic and social oppression of Palestinians are part of a more general attack on the basic rights of Palestinians. We believe that the struggle for the Right to Education in Palestine is a crucial campaign that can highlight both the oppression suffered by Palestinians as well as the reasons for that oppression.
